During the operation

The clinics of the Centre of Anthropometrical (Orthopaedical) Cosmetology and Correction are localized in Volgograd city in Russia and in Karlovy Vary region in Czech Republic. Volgograd is a big regional center in the South of Europe Part of Russia. We use the original, unique technology, which is based on the natural (phisyologycal) ability of bones to grow. The growing is stimulated by the operation and supported by the our unique devices (like Ilizarov devices). We consider, that this is the most perfect and the safest legs lengthening method.

There are three periods of the limb lengthening procedure: First is the operation, during which the osteotomy and the reliable fixation with the special orthopedic apparatus (designed by Dr.Ilizarov and modernized in our Centre) are performed.
The second is the stretching (distraction, lengthening) period. Our technology allows to make about 1 mm stretching a day. The duration of the distraction period depends on the lengthening amount and usually takes 2-3 months.
The third is the consolidation period. It is continued approximately as the double lengthening time. At the end of the consolidation period the device is removed from patient's leg.

The procedure is usually performed on for both legs at the same time.
The maximum possible leg lengthenig is 7-9 cm.
During the treatment the patients are active, the day after operation all of them find it easy to move about without any help. The functions of legs are saved because patients can do movements at all period of the procerdure.
To perform the procedure patients must stay during the lengthening (distraction) period in the clinic. After that patients may continue to stay in the clinic or to rent a flat.
If patients follow advices of doctors there are not any side effects of operations. We had not any serious complications at our Center after all legs lengthening and legs correction operations.
During the treatment we use special computer system for the surgery planning and determination of individual parameters apparatus dynamic characteristics.
