I would like to know the same thing.

I have nice legs now but I would like to very much get this done for cosmetic reasons. I am a latina girl, Im 5'3 and I would like to increase 4inches more and lengthen my arms just a little too.
I live in the USA and have not found a Dr. who can do this for cosmetic surgery only.
The thing is, is that I went on YouTube.com to see if anyone has posted any videos of volgagrad city and there were some nice ones yet some disturbing ones too. I know that there is racisim all over the world but I especially was frightened how it shows racisim in Russia. Can someone tell me, would there be a problem with my stay over there if I decide to get this procedure done?

Hey, I am interested in doing the procedure but am worried about the pain...will it be unbearable? lol...I am about 171cm, but my tibia/lower legs are disproportionately short; it's not just looks, having longer legs would mean I can play sports like football or soccer much better (now I know why I can't kick a football very far)...Anyway, after the procedure will you have to wear crutches for like 9 months? Will I need to have another operation after that time?

Thanks, John

I had the surgery done two years ago in America and still can not walk. It resulted in a hand ful of surgeries all by what is considered the best doctor in America. I went to Kurgan in hopes of finding an answer to correct my bones. I am familiar with seven of the limb lenghtening doctors in the states and the Kurgan Center. If anyone would like to ask me anything, I am happy to share.

how many cm/inch did you do? and what went wrong?

I would be very cautious of cosmetic leg lengthening procedures.  There is a doctor in Macon, Ga that considered himself one of the foremost experts in the country and had most of his training in Russia.

Here is a link to a recent news article:

http://www.mymcr.net/articles/2008/08/28/news/doc48b49c52ad487305298170.txt

There is plenty more court info concerning this if you google is name.

Dr Vito is currently in jail but there are seven (7) patients who have had failed results and some are still not walking.  He and his practice, Foot & Leg Centers of Georgia, owe millions in court awarded damages that have not been paid to the victims.

Again, I would be extremely cautious.  Even China, of all places, is outlawing this procedure.  That has got to tell you something.

Please visit this site where a trial to grow adult height by oral dose is being conducted with encouraging results.

This may be a viable alternative to the Limb lengthening surgery with much noninvasive manner.

Hello Donald!!!My name is Antonina. I am glad to help you with this question.
LON -lengthening over nail.
In this case, during the surgery the intraosseous rod and the Ilizarov apparatus are immediately installed together. The Ilizarov apparatus is used for distraction of the bones. After the ending of lengthening, the intraosseous rod is locked with a medical screw under the x-ray through a small incision and the Ilizarov apparatus is removed. The nail is removed from the bone after a complete fusion. Generally, this is not earlier than 1 year from the start of consolidation. Elongation in this manner may be limited to 5-6 cm.
LATN-
lengthening and then nail.
With this method of operation, elongation is produced by the classical scheme according to Ilizarov. Then, at the end of distraction, the Ilizarov apparatus is removed and the blocking intramedullary nail is set into the bone for fixation. This nail is fixed to the bone until a complete fusion. The nail is removed from the bone after a complete fusion. It is not earlier than 1 year from the beginning of consolidation. After removing the nail, the patient will able to walk without crutches.

Hello Martin!!!
In most cases external Ilizarov frames and his technique are used. In some cases we use apparatuses of different designs. As an exception lengthening over nails (LON) is applied. The method to be used depends on many factors and is very individual taking into consideration specific needs of the patient.
Commonly, lengthening which does not interfere with proportion between shinbones and thighs is 5-7 cm (2" -3"). Besides, lengthening within this limit is much safer. The maximum lengthening in our Center for cosmetic reasons was 10 cm. Apart from purely esthetic reasons, the maximum lengthening is limited by individual stretching capabilities of soft tissues, as well as regenerative capability of the bone tissue. Lengthening of the femurs is possible only by 5 cm.

Hello Tien!!!
yes, you can. Will you write me info5@rucosm.com, i'll explane everything in more detail.

Do you have any limits of age and height for leg lengthening?

We don't have any limits of height. What about age we negotiate individually .

As many of our patients come from over 45 countries outside of the Russian Federation, we have received many requests to deliver a faster method that meets the needs of our patients diverse situations. Due to this we have implemented new express methods that help reduce the hospital waiting period to 7 days and less. To meet this demand, we purchased a modern German navigation system named “Orthopilot”. Sold by Aesculap this navigation system is used by the leading orthopedic clinics across Europe and America. This highly accurate system helps in the process of simultaneously correcting the curvatures of the legs during the operation. The computer navigation assists in precisely measuring the anthropometrical and biomechanical features, ensuring not only the most accurate aesthetic correction but the safest method to ensure preserving function.

HI.How much does the quick correction operation cost?
